I should update this more often...
So, a couple of things:
I finally breached the 1 000 pageviews (some time ago). Thank you very much to all who leave comments, favs or just watch me. I really appreciate it.
The number of pageviews isn't something I usually pay a lot of attention too, or actively try to increase, but it's still a nice appreciation of my photography (and a nice ego-stroke, hehehe). Like most 'serious' photographers on here I prefer one in-depth criticism than 10 comments saying nothing more than 'nice shot'. Not that I don't appreciate the latter, but I feel I'm here to share and to learn.
I recently got myself a Canon Eos 300D, (as I already mentioned in the comments in some shots). Even though I got it in a relatively cheap place, it still cost a fortune for my poor student wallet. I don't regret buying it for a second though, the advantages of digital compared to my old analog camera are obvious to me. Most important off course is being able to shoot as much as I want too, without having to pay development costs. I shoot a lot more now, and some of the shots I find best I probably would never have taken if I were still using my old cam.
Another advantage is the instant feedback you get. The digital sensor is more sensitive to wrong exposures than negative film, but that doesn't really matter because you can reshoot immediately with the correct exposure compensation. To me that essentially means I'm learning about exposing correctly very fast now.
The third big advantage is the ability to switch from 100 to 800 iso and anywhere in-between on the fly. I remember several times before while travelling where I really wished I had brought some faster (or slower) film. The ability to use my EF lenses is off course useful too.
Some less good news. Crunch time in college is approaching rapidly, which means that in the next two months or so I'll be quite busy studying. I'll still be active here, and try to go out shooting as often as I can, but it'll probably be less than I want to.
Cheers,
Geert
